Wrapping up his last year with Taft College, Johan Rodriguez Velazquez, has been recognized by his teammates for his determination to improve himself and make his team better at the same time. Described as a versatile player, Johan can jump into any position and perform well.
Johan, a kinesiology major, plans on transferring after his time at Taft College and will continue to play soccer while continuing his education. Johan hopes to one day be a sports physical therapist to continue his relationship with the sport he loves beyond his own time on the field.
Johan notes that instead of a specific memorable moment as an athlete, he simply appreciates every day and the new challenges and opportunities to grow and improve they each presented. No stranger to the busy life of a college student, Johan has said that his favorite part of being a student-athlete is the busy schedule that comes with trying to balance his life as an athlete and his life as a student.
A leader both on and off the field, Johan is a fan of bonding with his team and working with his coach and teammates to make sure that they all have the opportunity to grow and be the best they can be.
