On Saturday, Taft College suffered an upsetting loss against the Vikings of Barstow. Walks and defensive miscues ultimately cost the game despite the offense providing plenty of runs.
A total of 15 hits and 9 walks were allowed by Taft's pitching staff. Starting pitcher, Tait Ludwick took the harsh loss tossing 2 innings and giving up 8 runs, on 3 hits and 4 walks.
Micah McCulley came out of the bullpen allowing no runs on 4 hits in 4 innings of work. Five more pitchers got in the game during the later innings and surrendered an additional 8 runs.
Offensively, Jade Smoot led the way for the Cougars going 4-for-5 with 4 RBI's and a homer. Joel Santiago and Noah Sirkel also connected for the long ball. In addition, Jayce Gardner went 3-for-4 with 1 RBI and 2 doubles.
Taft College will look to bounce back on Thursday February 1st when they host Allan Hancock at 1:00 pm.
