Taft College sophomore catcher Allie Dobbs earned first-team All-Central Valley Conference honors on Saturday following her impressive final season. She was joined by sophomore Jade Martinez on the All-CVC second team while freshmen Abrianna Carr, Cierra Papademetriou, Calli Martin, and Kaitlyn Allen were honorable mention selections.
The 2019 Taft College softball season came to a close following a split of a Central Valley Conference doubleheader at Merced College on Tuesday. Cierra Papademetriou blasted a pair of home runs in the Cougars’ 8-4 opening-game win before Merced took the final game by a score of 12-4.
It was a great day for Taft College’s four sophomores as well as the rest of the Cougar softball team. On Monday, the program honored sophomores Allie Dobbs, Jessica Silva, Jade Martinez, and Paige Wagner before going on to defeat West Hills College Coalinga by a final score of 11-2 in six innings.
Taft College pitchers allowed a four-run, first-inning in Game 1 and five runs in the opening frame of Game 2 on its way to a pair of losses at Porterville College on Tuesday. The Pirates took the opener by a final score of 7-4 and needed just five innings to defeat the Cougars 11-1 in Game 2.
Runs were easy to come by for the winning teams of a Central Valley Conference doubleheader between Taft College and visiting Cerro College on Tuesday. Cerro Coso opened the afternoon’s action with a 17-4 win over the Cougars before Taft sent the Coyotes home after an impressive 19-3 bounce-back win.
A rough stretch of the 2019 season for Taft College continued on Tuesday. The Cougars totaled just seven hits over two games and suffered consecutive five-inning losses in a doubleheader at Fresno City College.
Sophomore Allie Dobbs homered in her third consecutive game, her state-leading ninth of the season, to account for all of Taft College’s runs in a 9-3 loss in the opening game of a Central Valley Conference doubleheader against Reedley College on Tuesday. The second game didn’t go the Cougars way as well, as Taft lost 8-4.
Taft College sophomore Allie Dobbs smashed her state-leading eighth home run, but the Cougars came up just short in a 6-5 loss to visiting Porterville College on Thursday in both teams’ Central Valley Conference opener.
The Taft College home field hasn’t been kind as of late. On Sunday, the Cougars suffered their fourth straight loss at home, dropping a non-conference doubleheader to College of the Siskiyous. Taft fell in the opener by a final score of 9-4 and lost the second game, 8-5.

San Antonio College sophomore pitcher Briana Wheeler are the the 2019 California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA) Week #3 Player and Pitcher of the Week. Dobbs earned the honors after a big doubleheader against Gavilan College, while Wheeler took home the award thanks to three straight strong outings against some of the top teams in the state.
After combining for 29 runs a doubleheader sweep of Gavilan College last week, the Taft College bats were cooled down in a pair of losses to Bakersfield College on Tuesday. The Cougars dropped the opener 9-0 in six innings and fell in the second game by a score of 11-2 in five.

Taft College had its two-game winning streak snapped, dropping a doubleheader set at College of the Canyons on Friday afternoon in Santa Clarita. The Cougars rallied late in the opener but fell by a final score of 10-8. The afternoon came to a close with an 11-3 loss in six innings.
