The Taft College women's soccer team is set to open the 2019 season on Thursday (Aug. 29) at 2 p.m. when the Cougars will face Orange Coast College in Ventura at the New Balance Community College Showcase. Taft returns to the Ventura College Sports-Plex field on Friday (Aug. 30) to take on San Diego Mesa College to close the tourney at 2 p.m.
The Cougars enter the 2019 season with a strong group of returning players from last year, including sophomores Maria Jimenez and Casandra Calzada. The combination of experienced veterans with some very talented freshmen could mean big things for the Cougars. This year's team has great potential to achieve the goals that last year's team couldn't fulfill.
Head coach Myisha Cutrona is extremely enthusiastic for the future of this team. She feels very confident in her players given that they are all willing to work hard for each other and give all their effort every time they step on the field. Thanks to depth on her 2019 roster, Myisha will have great flexibility with her lineups and trying out different game plans. The Cougars, along with Myisha, have very high hopes for this season. Their goals include wining a conference title and going far in playoffs.
The Cougars play their first game at home on Sep. 4 against Cerro Coso College at 2 p.m
