TC Student Athletes Participate in Leadership Conference
TAFT, CA – Five Taft College student-athletes were selected to participate in the first annual California Student Athlete Community College Leadership Conference on March 27 in Sacramento.
All freshmen, Kara Gonzales (women's golf), Mikayla Villalobos, Alesha Gordon, Madyn Kassatly, and Ella Waufle (women's basketball) attended the conference where they experienced different cultures of successful leadership.
The event was held at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in Downtown Sacramento and topics were discussed from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. Guest speakers were Alex Rodrigo (Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association), Kimberly Bartolino (Executive Assistant to Alex Rodrigo), Todd Dunivant (President/General Manager Sacramento Republic FC), Christopher Johnson (CEO of the Johnson Group), Oliver North (CEO of Only Thoughts of Ownership), Dimitrous Chattman (Assistant Director for California Recruitment at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo).
Along with renowned speakers and leaders, attendees were able to view a professional basketball shootaround at the Sacramento Kings' Golden 1 Center. Outstanding meal selections were serviced throughout the day, along with a game voucher to attend a professional game between the Sacramento Kings and Portland Trailblazers. Food and beverage snack vouchers were given during the game, along with conference swag.
The conference ended with all participants taking a group photo at half court on the Golden 1 Center game floor.
