Taft College hosted Antelope Valley College of Lancaster on Tuesday. Tyson Canfield got the start on the mound. He threw 6 innings, and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits. Canfield retired 5 batters he faced on strikes. Seth Sorensen came out of the bullpen in the 7th inning while the game was tied. He tossed 4 shutout innings on 3 hits and 2 strikeouts to earn the win.
The Cougars provided just enough run support to get the win. Nick Kawano led the way offensively collecting 3 hits in 5 at-bats, with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. Brendan Halstrom and Dayton Wilson both collected 2 hits. Dominic Tating and Brandon Stevens also got an RBI.
The Cougars will travel to Allan Hancock College on Thursday February 2nd to look to go on a winning roll as conference play steadily approaches.
