Roman Roberts Voted All-State for Taft College Baseball
TAFT, CA – The Taft College Athletic Department and Baseball Team celebrates and congratulates one of their own in sophomore sensation Roman Roberts who has recently been voted California Community College Athletic Association First Team All-State as an outfielder.
Roberts was made aware his status on May 24 at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. Though he missed an entire eight games during the season due to a knee injury, Roberts continued to make a huge offensive impact for the Cougars. Roberts was ranked number one in home runs in the Central Valley Conference, second in conference with a batting average of .378, and number 11 with runs batted in.
Along with being one of the top statistical players in the conference, Roberts was unanimously voted First Team All-Conference.
Taft College Head Baseball Coach Vince Maiocco commented, "Roman had an outstanding season. If he didn't injure his knee in late January which cost him significant playing time, I truly believe Roman would have been a serious candidate for CA State Player of the Year."
