Taft College Men's Golf posts strong showing at Big 8 Conference event in Fresno

Taft College turned in a solid day Monday at the Big 8 Conference #11 event, with sophomores  and freshman  leading the Cougars at Fort Washington Golf & Country Club in Fresno. Scherer carded an 81 to pace Taft, Clark matched him with an 81, and sophomore  followed with an 83 in the event hosted by Fresno City College.

The Cougars' top three rounds gave Taft a strong foundation on a warm afternoon in Fresno, where clear skies and temperatures in the mid-80s greeted the field. Scherer set the tone with one of the team's best scores of the day, and Clark was right alongside him, giving Taft two low rounds at 9 over par. Shipley stayed close behind at 11 over, helping round out the team's leading performances.

Taft's showing reflected the balance it needed in conference play. With Scherer and Clark matching low scores and Shipley adding another steady round, the Cougars produced a competitive effort against the Big 8 field.
