SANTA CLARITA – Sophomore Juan Carlos Lopez' goal in the 43rd minute proved to be all the offense Taft College would need as the Cougars narrowly defeated College of the Canyons 1-0 on the road on Friday.
Taft remains unbeaten this season with a perfect 4-0 overall record.
The Cougars outshot host Canyons by a 7-5 margin. Goalkeeper Jaime Tiscareno posted four saves to earn TC's fourth shutout of the season. Taft has outscored its opponents by a 10-0 margin.
The Cougars return to action next Friday (Sep. 16) when they travel to Oxnard College for a 1:30 p.m. non-conference game.
