Five TC Cougar Basketball Players Recognized All-Conference
TAFT, CA – Taft College Women's Basketball had another successful season. This was the first time in school history Taft Basketball had back-to-back in winning seasons overall and playing in the post season for state playoffs. It was also the first time historically the program had its highest ranking at #9 in the Northern Regional Polls throughout the 2024-2025 season.
This year's team returned 5 sophomores and 6 freshmen. There were five Cougars who made the all-conference selections. Freshmen Madyn Kassatly (Brighton, Colorado) and Ella Waufle (Thornton, Colorado), Sophomores Alyah Blackwater (Monument Valley, Utah), Amaya Payne (Las Vegas, Nevada), and Kahree Horton (Boise, Idaho).
Kassatly averaged 17.5 points per game, leading the team and fifth in the conference. Kassatly was also fifth in the conference averaging 9.1 rebounds. She recorded 11 double doubles and scored her career high 37 points, along with 7 steals and 5 three-points shots made in a game.
Waufle averaged 13.2 points and 2.2 steals. Waufle scored a career high of 27 points, along with 5 steals and 5 three-pointers in one game as well.
Blackwater collected five double-doubles, and had career highs of 6 steals, 8 assists, and 21 points in a single game.
Payne had 7 double-doubles on the season, ranked #4 leading rebounder in the conference.
Horton scored in double figures on five different occasions: 30, 24, 21, 11 and 10.
Sophomore Alyah Blackwater has been chosen to participate in the annual Women's Basketball California Community College Athletic Association Sophomore Showcase on Saturday, March 15 at Chaffey College.
