Texas Standout Commits to Taft Women’s Basketball Program
TAFT, CA – The active 2025 recruiting season started last year for Taft College Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. His first recruit stems from the state of Texas.
Arely Estrada, a 5'7 guard/forward from Irving, Texas has officially committed to Taft College for the 2025-2026 season for quite a while now. Estrada averaged 7 points and 2 rebounds for Irving High School.
Coach Lagmay commented on his first commit, "Arely took on a role to play the point guard position to make sure her team was organized and being distributed to. However, she really can score and moving her to that two spot will make her thrive in our Taft system. We're excited to see her thrive and contribute next season in Cougar Country, and glad she chose us from the very beginning."
Estrada shared her thoughts as well on her early decision, "I committed to Taft because I want to continue to pursue my dreams of playing basketball at a higher level and education, I want to grow and learn as I go each day and make lifelong friends and memories with the new people I meet."
