Taft College Women’s Basketball Taps into One of Stockton’s Best Defensive Players
TAFT, CA – Ja'Naysha Green of Weston Ranch High School in Stockton, California has decided to bring her talents to the Taft College Women's Basketball program.
Green is a 5'5' combo guard who has had a successful career in her position. A four-year varsity player and three-year starter at Weston Ranch, Green was honored on her team and league. A 3A division high school playing in the San Joaquin Athletic Association league, Weston Ranch had their best season in 2023 capturing the league title with a 13-1 record and Green being voted Best Defensive Player. She was the team's most valuable player in her freshman year on junior varsity as well.
This past season, Green was honored again for Team MVP and League Best Defensive Player and All-League. Green finished her senior season averaging 9 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 blocks and an amazing 5.5 steals.
Taft College Head Women's Basketball Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. shared his thoughts, "Nay Nay is as scrappy as you can get. That's our style. No backdown whatsoever. She can score; she can defend. On both ends of the court, she is a threat! She is that type of player you don't want your team to play against. We welcome her with big smiles to Cougar Country."
Green gave insight to her commitment to Taft, "I want to attend Taft College because it offers a supportive, close-knit environment where I can grow as both a student and athlete. I'm especially excited about the opportunity to play basketball and part of a competitive team that will push me to improve and succeed."
