Taft College Women's Basketball Crossover Champions
In an impressive display of basketball prowess, the Taft College Cougars women's team clinched a resounding victory against the Compton College Coyotes with a final score of 80-43. This game, part of the their second mathcup of the Taft College Crossover, resulted in their championship standing that took place in Taft, CA on December 6, 2025.
The Cougars established a narrow lead by the end of the first quarter, 17-16, supported by a crucial three-pointer from Jada Miller. They continued to build momentum into the second period, extending their lead significantly to 39-22 by halftime, thanks to key plays and a solid defense highlighted by multiple steals from Tiara Jackson.
The third quarter saw the Cougars dominating both ends of the court as they widened the gap further, leading 59-36 by the quarter's end. The final quarter solidified their victory, culminating in an 80-43 win. Throughout the game, Madyn Kassatly emerged as a top performer, contributing 18 points and securing 10 rebounds, while both Ella Waufle and Tiara Jackson were pivotal in defense, each recording 4 steals. Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. praised the team for their high energy and impressive attack on both ends of the court.
Looking ahead, the undefeated Cougars (11-0) are set to face West Los Angeles College at the Al Baldock Cougar Sports Center on December 10, 2025 at 5:00 pm.
