Meet the 2025-2026 Lady Cougars
Kara Gonzales returns to the program with valuable experience and serves as a veteran presence for the squad. Having previously competed for Taft College, Gonzales brings leadership and course knowledge that will be invaluable as the team develops throughout the season.
Faith Hamstreet joins the Lady Cougars after spending her freshman year at California State University San Marcos, where she gained valuable NCAA Division II experience. Her return to the Central Valley brings a wealth of competitive knowledge and elevated expectations for the program. Hamstreet's experience at the four-year level should provide immediate impact and serve as a bridge between collegiate golf demands and community college competition.
The freshman trio of Justine Chavez, Alina Moran, and Harumi Martinez bring excitement and determination as they transition from high school competition to the collegiate level. Their Bakersfield roots ensure they understand the local golf landscape and are eager to represent their community with pride.
Looking Ahead
This group of Bakersfield natives represents more than just a golf team; they embody the connection between local talent and educational opportunity that defines community college athletics. Their enthusiasm for their first collegiate season, combined with the program's commitment to development, positions the Lady Cougars for meaningful progress throughout the year. Head Coach Tom Olejnik stated, "The combination of Hamstreet's Division II experience, Gonzales' program familiarity, and the fresh energy of three motivated freshmen creates an intriguing dynamic. Under the Olejnik coaching staff's guidance, this group has the potential to establish new standards for Taft College women's golf while representing Taft College."
