Taft’s Jazzahlei Satele Voted State Player of the Week
TAFT, CA – Taft College Women's Volleyball player outside hitter Jazzahlei "Jazzy" Satele was voted women's volleyball state player of the week by the California Community College Women's Volleyball Athletic Association.
The 5'6 freshman from Kalaheo High School in Waimanalo, Hawaii, is one of three state players of the week to be honored in week #2 of the official season.
In the past week, Jazzy accumulated 82 kills on 208 swings, only 13 errors and hit .331. She also collected 16 aces, passed 2.42, 66 digs and 10 block assists.
In her game against Ohlone College, Jazzy owned the 5th set single handedly having 9 kills and 1 ace to secure the victory.
Taft Head Women's Volleyball Coach Mallori Rossi shared her endorsement, "Jazzy's performance this week was nothing short of stellar. Her stats are impressive but what's even more impressive is her work ethic, relentless effort, poise, confidence and leadership. Her play truly electrifies the gym. She has the heart of a competitor. When the match was on the line in the 5th set with Ohlone, Jazzy stepped up in a big way for her team."
Taft will play at home next Friday, September 5 at 5:00 pm against Cuesta College. The Cougars currently are 6-1 in the early season.
