TC Volleyball Face a Close Defeat Against #3 San Joaquin Delta Lady Mustangs
In a closely contended volleyball game held at De Anza College on September 12, 2025, the Taft College Cougars, representing the women's college division, faced off against the San Joaquin Delta College Lady Mustangs in a neutral setting, resulting in a narrow defeat for the Cougars with a final score of 3-2 in favor of San Joaquin Delta.
The game began with the Lady Mustangs claiming a tight victory in the first set 25-23. The Cougars, however, rallied back to take the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-21, showcasing strong offensive plays and solid defense. Unfortunately, momentum shifted in the fourth set as San Joaquin Delta overpowered the Cougars with a convincing 25-15 win, followed by a decisive 15-12 victory in the fifth and final set to clinch the match.
Key players for the Cougars included Jazzahlei Satele, who delivered an impressive performance with a total of 23 kills, and Vienna Perier, who not only provided 12 kills, 3 blocks, and 8 digs but also scored the most aces for her team with four. Amber Makainai was notable for her all-round contributions, accumulating 26 assists, 9 digs, and 3 aces.
