Taft’s Vienna Perier Voted State Player of the Week; Cougars Still Atop State Rankings at #5
TAFT, CA – Taft College Women's Volleyball player right side/setter Vienna Perier was voted women's volleyball state player of the week by the California Community College Athletic Association.
The 5'10 freshman from Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, has a .268 hitting percentage ranking her #5 in the Central Valley Conference.
Perier was a major performer in helping Taft become the first Central Valley Conference team to defeat Fresno City since 2011 (counted as a non-conference match due to two divisions) in a stunning sweep by the Cougars on Oct. 29. In that win, she scored eight kills, set 16 assists, made 10 digs, landed four aces, and made three blocks (two solos).
Perier added 20 assists, 10 digs, six kills, three aces and two blocks in a sweep over Reedley.
Taft will play at home this Wednesday, November 5 at 6:00 pm against College of the Sequoias. The Cougars are currently in first place in conference at 4-0 and 24-2 overall and ranked #5 in the state.
