LEMOORE – Freshman Brandy Edwards had a huge game, scoring a game-high 35 points, to help lead Taft College to a 69-46 Central Valley Conference victory at West Hills College Lemoore on Wednesday night.
The Cougars trailed 16-10 after the first quarter before Edwards took over. She erupted for 17 of TC's 26 second-quarter points to put Taft out in front for good, 36-24, at halftime.
Aviana Perez and Valerie Tapia both scored 12 points each to contribute to the win while Precious Ramos and Yareli Gomez chipped in with 5 points each.
Taft snapped a seven-game losing streak and improved to 4-21 overall. The Cougars, now 2-7 in Central Valley Conference play, return to action on Friday (Feb. 10) at 3 p.m. when they face College of the Sequoias in Visalia.
